"People are looking for things (to do) besides parking a car," said Brown, who canceled his restaurant car cruises and other activities throughout the year to apply his energy entirely to the fifth-annual event.
Brown and his wife, Sam Choi-Brown, will provide burning music by local bands Family Traditions and Blue Star Pilot, karaoke, a remote NASCAR step lively track, hula hoop and bubble gum-blowing contests, a '50s trivia show, golf-putting trial, neon photo shoot, a 40-foot-long, 45s-playing Greyhound Cruiser bus and a roped-off arena specifically for antique or modified cars.
"There will probably be an Elvis sighting," he said with a grin.
"What I'm trying to do is initiate enough activity on the east side of 28th Street. The ambience (at Pal's) is perfect for Metro. The problem is that it started in Wyoming."
Places such as Roger's Plaza and Klingman's Apparatus on the west end of the 15-mile Metro Cruise, and Woodland and CenterPointe malls in the middle usually on to mind first when mentioning the exponentially growing event presented by the Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Traffic.

Last week, I fielded a beyond consideration about a car's remote starter that seemed to be possessed: It started on its own. The original installer had gone out of business. To further complicate things, the writer's remote even periodically started other people's cars. My first thoughts were the module of the remote system had gone sour due to its age.
Well, my friends, I was bombarded with e-mails from readers explaining their cars did the same emotional attachment. But, surprise of surprise, this is a programmed feature. This writer did not have knowledge of the programmed intermittent start. Apparently, some of the better dismay systems have a feature that will tell the car to start and run for a period of time all throughout the day or night as you choose, for the purpose of keeping the car warm.
Now, if you have a diesel car or dealings, I can see the need. But on a car? I think we are once again over-engineering. Obviously, the original correspondent did not have the owner's manual, and somehow, some way, by the actions of the automotive remote button starter gremlins, his remote start system went into the programmed start mode.
