Be cautious:
This a great app, except it will not work with your 3rd party car mount/docks at this point. I have been having issues finding a strong GPS signal while docked in my Belkin TuneBase FM (Expressive Navigator works just fine with the same dock, as does the native "Maps" app. TomTom works justified fine outside of the dock...
Upon some internet reading and then confirmation from a TomTom customer service representative, I have found that TomTom has written cryptogram to disable the native GPS in the iPhone when docked - it assumes that the user is docking in THEIR dock which sports and far superior GPS receiver, and a such disables the iPhone's.
The delegate did ensure me that TomTom was working on a resolution for this fault, hopefully in a timely fashion - if I had known this, I would not have purchased it.
My favourable mention is to wait to purchase this app. If you have a 3rd party dock that you plan to use it will NOT work right now - you might as well save your $99.00, because holding an iPhone in your speedily while you drive is not an efficient method of navigation.

TomTom's iPhone navigation app has hit the streets and we've bewitched it for a spin , but what about the iPhone car kit that TomTom has promised us? What exactly will this kit add to navigation on the iPhone to justify the additional $100 it is expected to add to the fee tag of the $99 app?
Most of the features indicated in the promo video released by TomTom seem like duplicates or enhancements of features already compere on the iPhone itself. For example, the cradle will include its own discrete GPS chip, which should aid in more precise positioning. A built-in microphone and tub-thumper should be louder and, hopefully, clearer than the iPhone's own built-in equipment. A 12 volt in-car charger should keep the iPhone juiced and an analog audio yield will allow people to utilize their cars' speakers for turn-by-turn directions and music playback.
So, will the app and car kit carton be worth $200? For iPhone users, maybe not. Again, many of the features that the TomTom kit should bring are duplications of things that the iPhone already does, and until we can check-up the kit, there's no way of knowing how much an improvement the kit makes.
