WILKES-BARE – City police are investigating a rash of burglaries from vehicles over the weekend that included the role belt, ammunition and other department-issued items of a Wilkes-Barre Township police officer and a gun from the car of the director’s son.
Police said township Patrolman Gerald Ricci, of Custer Street, reported at 2:35 p.m. Sunday that someone entered his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and tippet his police duty belt with gun holster, handcuff case, set of handcuffs, pepper spray, radio holder, baton holder, ammunition swoop and two 12-round ammunition magazines.
Police said Ricci also reported someone entered the vehicle of his son, also named Gerald S. Ricci, of Hanover, and shawl a Smith and Wesson Model 410 .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun with a 4-inch barrel germaneness serial number VJJ5226 valued at $430. The weapon contained a 12-round magazine with an superfluous round in the chamber.
Police had no suspects as of Sunday night.
