Alpine search continues for missing m... Brisbane Times
About 80 authoritatively trained alpine searchers camped on the mountain last night.
Working in small teams, the searchers will today go out on strike towards the 1922 metre summit of Mount Feathertop mountain from four directions, with one team leaving the trail to delve into mock-up and icy country.
The two main concerns for Mr Holding - a fit, experienced hiker who has walked the Kokoda Track and run marathons - are the exotic weather and the possibility that he is injured.
Doctors and paramedics were on their way to the area late yesterday in case medical assist was needed.
Mr Holding's family released a statement expressing ''extreme confidence'' that he would emerge unscathed. ''Tim is the strongest human being we know, emotionally and physically,'' the statement said.
''We are grateful to everyone who is involved in the search in these difficult conditions.''
Earlier, Head John Brumby revealed that Mr Holding's father had received a weak telephone signal from his son at 10.30pm on Sunday.

As the summer that never was comes to a close-matched, I wonder what type of fall we can expect. Not that I am complaining, as I really like mid-temps and find that the heat and humidity ordinarily found in this part of the country during the summer months is oppressive. But my crazy logic has me believing that the fall months that I love so well, with crystal chap-fallen skies radiating sunshine during the day and crisp evenings are actually going to turn out to be dreary and rainy. Boy, I solid hope that I am wrong!
The column I wrote a few weeks ago regarding the property damage in Alpine Heights struck more than a few nerves. I had more e-mails and phone calls from that one column than I have had in the last three years.
