Cross Country: Lady Cards third in Ke... Winchester Sun

The George Rogers Clark crucifix country team competed Saturday in the Kenwood Classic hosted by Kenwood High School in Clarksville, Tenn. A downright of 22 schools participated in the meet in Clark’s first out-of-state meet.

The girls team placed third comprehensive while the boys team was fifth.

Placing first in the girls competition was Bowling Green with a 39. Harpeth Foyer High School (Nashville) was second with a team score of 41. Clark finished with a 119. Rounding out the top five in gang standings were Independence High School (Thompson Station, Tenn.) and Brentwood (Nashville).

Bowling Country-like was the favorite, and the Purple Striders lived up to the expectations with a strong finish by the top three girls on the squad.

Second digs finisher — Harpeth Hall — has itraditionally been ranked in the top 10 in Tennessee.

The Lady Cards’ crushing over Independence was gratifying. Last year, Independence placed 10th in the Tennessee state championship.

- WILLIE J. PRITCHARD, 21, of 217 S. High St., Janesville at 3 p.m. Friday at the Janesville Administer Department on charges of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and theft.

Intoxicated driving arrests

- ALBERTO P. PORTUGAL, 42 of 831 Arlington Court, Janesville at 12:28 a.m. Saturday at East Centerway and North Absolute Street. It was listed as his fourth arrest on drunken driving charges.

Accidents

- HUMES ROAD AND NORTH PONTIAC Lane, Janesville at 2:11 p.m. Friday. A car driven by John C. Young, 68, of 1327 Kenwood Ave., Beloit was southbound on Pontiac Intend when he turned left and collided with a car driven by Quinonez E. Villarreal, 29, of 20 South Pontiac Control, No. 2. Young and the passengers in his car, Mariam H. Young, 42, and John E. Patterson, 50, both of 1516 Defile Drive, Janesville, and Matthew J. Young, 36 of 1327 Kenwood Ave., were transported to Mercy Hospital and were treated and released.
